Following God can create anxiety. The very thought of that emotion, the one you want rid of most, that debilitating emotion. Following God helps greatly with anxiety and the understanding of it’s sources and how it attaches itself to events and plays the Mind.
Using the upper Mind to moniter the lower minds helps to discern how this anxity is working and lessens its impact.
We live by the Mind and follow our patterns and habits and lessons of the past. These old lessons and habits that help are relied on. When you follow God deeper, these old crutches of life of oldness set in the past, driven by dreams ambitions wants of the future framed in childhood have to be given up and you begin to rest in the faith of God, to rely on Him.
God and the Mind are polar opposites so It’s a gentle process. You may feel like you have given it all and relied on God totally but that is almost impossible and can only realistically be done in nibble size bites. You are your mind and patterns so until you are gone it is still there.
To rely on God may produce what the mind wants at first and initially I have found that there are lots of blissful points which is a complete joy. But as you delve further in you start to realise that where God is taking you and where the Mind expects to be taken are not the same place. Along this thorny trail are going to be a whole long list of disappointments, let downs, challenges and contrary advice. God wants you to be free and see him. Mind wants to be free in satisfying it’s desires to be where it wants doing what it wants, what makes it comfortable according to past patterns impressions.
Along the path I have had endless disappointments and contrary guidance from my inner guidance but these are disappointments from the Mind’s perspective and from God’s who knows.
The task when you step back to see the complete picture is your mind has to be lost into a single entity which encompasses everything there is which would have so many points of view within it, that you start to see how little you can actually take on board and that disappointments inevitably lie ahead. Without the disappointments you would only be giving surety to your limited Mind and it would grow bigger in importance.
If something is inflating the mind instead of diminishing it. If your ego and status is being inflated instead of being diminished then where are you going. If that is the path then you should take care not to attach importance to the external effects as they have to end at some point. That is a surety as death will come if nothing else does.
